  9. NEC is a tough admit, but ANY audition based program is a crapshoot. Too many variables involved. Plenty of anecdotes of students accepted to Juilliard, but not getting in at "lesser" programs like Eastman, Peabody, IU/Jacobs, Oberlin, (fill in name here), etc.
